Important Note

F.A.Q

What’s a corset?
A corset is an item of clothing designed to model the woman’s body, correcting posture problems, reducing sizes and thinning the waist and decreasing adipose accumulation on the upper part of the thighs.

What’s Tight lacing?
Tight lacing is the name given to the practice of using the corset for long periods of time, intending to alter the silhouette by reducing the waist. The Corset used for this is an evolution of the corsets that our great-grandparents used, which has nothing to do with what today we call a corset, available in lingerie stores and sex-shops.
The Corsets are built from resistant tissues, in several layers and reinforced in strategic areas, tied in the back, and with rigid fins, usually made of steel or aluminum.

It is a known fact since the Middle Ages that the constant pressure of the Corset on the waist and lower ribs for 16 to 24 hours daily bends gradually the floating ribs, and with time the alteration becomes definite. However, besides the fact that Tight Lacing demands discipline and willpower, it must be practiced with criterion, since the reduction of the waist is a historically proved fact, it is also incontestable that the exaggerated use or little criterion can cause several problems of health.

How do you wash and preserve the corset?
Wash your corset by hand, with glycerin soap, preferentially on a hot day, so that it dries quickly. Never put it in a washing machine or in a spin drier. Don’t twist it, just press the corset lengthwise to take out the water, and let it dry naturally. Never try to fold your corset or iron it.
Styles in leather or varnish must be cleaned with humid cloth and get some air from time to time. You can also apply body moisturizer on leather to recover shine and softness, or use specific products to preserve those materials. Synthetic varnish corsets can be washed occasionally.

Styles in brocade, pure silk or embroided must be dry-cleaned by reliable dry-cleaners with experience in this kind of item.

Avoid using the corset directly on the skin, especially for long periods. The use of liners helps protecting the skin from friction and your corset from perspiration and bodily residues. Protect your corset with a cloth bag when putting it in the wardrobe, and don’t pile up other pieces of clothing on it.

Styles having pre-molded bulge require special care: some of them have a metal structure across the inside to keep the cleavage firm. Be careful not to deform this structure and always adjust it as soon as you wear the corset, to have a beautiful dressing of it.

How many hours a day one should use the corset?
Generally the use of the corset for 6 to 8 hours is enough, guaranteeing results after 2 weeks.
You can use the corsets for longer periods, as long as sit-ups are made in the same proportion. The use of the corset, if too much, tends to reflect in loss of abdominal muscular strength, which is compensated with specific exercises, preferentially with the supervision of a specialist.

Can Tight Lacing be harmful to healthy people?
Yes. If incorrectly done, that is, for a long period without abdominal exercises as compensation, it causes loss of muscular strength, resulting in serious spinal problems.
